What is a non asset company?
A non asset company is a company that does not own equipment and instead acts as a marketing company for others who do own equipment. In the Intermodal part of our business, we represent railroads who are the equipment owners. On the Trucking side, we utilize the truck fleets of hundreds of carriers we have under contract.
How is my freight moved from my warehouse to the railroad ramp?
A Dray company will bring the empty equipment that is to be used for your shipment. The equipment is loaded and then the Dray Company brings it to the designated ramp.
What is a delivery and pick up dray?
The dray portion of the Intermodal move is the part handled by the carrier that brings you the equipment to be loaded or to be unloaded.
What container sizes are available?
48’ and 53’. Also, 20’, 40’, and 45’ container typically move to the West Coast. Trailers are available in 45’ and 48’ lengths for use anywhere in the United States.
Who determines how the shipment will be moved?
The flexibility in transit time allows us to suggest either rail or truck, but you, the shipper ultimately decides.
What are the advantages of using rail service over truck service and vice versa?
Truck service is quicker, but more expensive. Rail service offers more competitive prices, with longer transit time. Rail service is competitive in longer haul moves.
Do I need a certain size, weight, or container amount to use Target transportation’s services?
You can call us to handle one shipment or a 100. We handle LTL and TL.
How will I know when the shipment has arrived? Can I trace them?
Our shipments are traced daily and reports are available upon request. Please contact
our office to set that up. Rail shipments can also be traced on our website.
What is the average transit time?
Transit time varies depending on the distance between origin and destination. Shipments going from the east coast to the west coast will take an average of 7-9 days.
